Future Earth

Future Earth is a global network of scientists, researchers, and innovators collaborating for a more sustainable planet. This global community is spread over a series of networks and governing and advisory bodies.

Future Earth is working towards a sustainable global future by developing a deeper understanding of complex Earth systems and human dynamics across disciplines. They look closely at the interconnectedness of Earth’s major systems–climate, water, land, ocean, urban, economic, energy, health, biodiversity, and governance systems–and develop evidence-based strategies for global sustainable development.

Future Earth was initiated by the International Council for Science (ICSU), and builds on more than three decades of global environmental change research programs and carriers forward the legacy of DIVERSITAS, the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) and the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change (IHDP).
